Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

MarketDay is a directory and community app for Orange County farmers markets. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate — it should actually describe what the app does.

What we collect

Browsing the app requires no account and no information from you. Timeline, map, market details, and vendor info are all visible without signing in.

If you create an account (only needed to save favourites or post a review), we collect:

If you use the map's "near me" feature, your device location is used to center the map and sort markets by distance. It's requested only when you tap that feature — never automatically — and it is not stored. It's sent to our database as part of a single query and not saved anywhere.

If you save favourites, we store which markets you've favourited, tied to your account.

If you write a review, we store the rating, text, and any photo you choose to attach, along with your display name and the date. Reviews are public — anyone using the app can see them.

If you report content or block another user, we store that action so we can act on it and so blocked users' content stops appearing for you.

What we don't do

Where your data lives

MarketDay is built on Supabase, a database and authentication provider. Your account and app data are stored on Supabase's infrastructure, protected by row-level security rules that restrict access to your own data (and admins, for moderation purposes).

Your choices

Children's privacy

MarketDay is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
